Ensemble E: PLUGS & EE OPUS ONE / Oslo
A master of creating large musical forms in contact with live sound in real time. He builds in a workshop process together with a musical ensemble a piece juxtaposing instruments from different genre spheres, in this particular case the traditional Norwegian hardingfele violin and the Biłgoraj bitch. A piece of lively musical progression evoking color and lots of energy. This will also be the debut presentation of ENSEMBLE E collective – a new group of international artists and musicians working in the field of contemporary experimental music, noise, improvised music, contemporary folk, free jazz and other experimental music fields and traditions.
Ensemble E is an international group of artists and musicians working in the field of contemporary experimental music, noise, improvised music, contemporary folk, free jazz and other experimental musical fields and traditions. The musicians work under the direction of Mats Gustafsson and conduct in-depth research on traditional and alternative ways of expression of Scandinavian and Polish folk music, and on how, by placing these traditions in completely new situations, new music can be created. In this composition, in addition to traditional jazz instrumentarium, traditional instruments of Poland (Biłgoraj bitch) and Norway (hardingfele violin) will be used. Mats Gustafsson himself is a phenomenal specialist in improvised music scenarios, a master of creating large musical forms in contact with live sound in real time. A piece of live musical progression evoking color and lots of energy.
